JAWRIC works on agricultural and forest roads from planning and design through construction supervision, maintenance and research. Together with prefectures, municipalities and land improvement districts across Japan, our staff build and look after the road networks that rural communities depend on. We look for people who would like to share in that work, and we aim to keep the conditions that let them stay.
We are not recruiting at present. Any future opening will be announced on this page and on the news page (Japanese).

Life at JAWRIC
Work on agricultural and forest roads combines office-based planning with time in the field. We have deliberately kept both elements in every career path, because staff who understand the intent of a plan and the reality of a site make better decisions in both places.
- Annual holidays
- 125 days (2026 fiscal year)
- Average paid leave taken
- 14.2 days per year (2025 fiscal year)
- Remote work
- Up to two days per week, subject to approval by the manager; adjusted in weeks with field assignments
- Flexible hours
- Core hours 10:00-15:00, flexible hours 7:00-20:00
- Parental leave
- 8 staff took parental leave in the 2025 fiscal year, including 3 men; all returned to work
- Training
- Induction training, technical training three times a year, external courses and support for professional qualifications
Assignments are decided with reference to both preference and aptitude. In the first three years, staff normally rotate between a planning team and a field team. The aim is to develop engineers and administrators who can read a plan critically and a site accurately.
