JAWRIC welcomes enquiries about our programmes, requests for technical advice, requests for publications and approaches from the media. This page lists our contact details and the staff who handle each type of enquiry.
We do not charge for first-stage technical consultation on the planning, design, construction or maintenance of agricultural and forest roads. If you are at an early stage, such as choosing a route or interpreting the results of an inspection, please feel free to get in touch.
Depending on the subject, a member of our technical staff will reply to arrange a meeting, either online or on site.

Visits to the head office are by appointment only. If you would like to meet us, please contact the relevant desk in advance so that we can arrange a suitable time and meeting room.
Enquiry form
You may also send an enquiry using the form below. Please complete the required fields and describe your enquiry as specifically as you can. Mentioning the road, municipality or prefecture involved helps us identify the right member of staff more quickly.
The form is provided as an illustration of the enquiry process and cannot yet be submitted. In the meantime, please write to us at info@jawric.org. We will announce on the news page when online submission becomes available.
Information you would enter in the form would be handled under our privacy policy. The policy is published in Japanese; please contact us if you would like an explanation in English.
What to expect when you write to us
We aim to acknowledge every enquiry promptly and to reply within a few working days. The table below shows the team that handles each kind of enquiry and the usual response time. Response times are indicative, and complex subjects may take longer.
| Type of enquiry | Handled by | Usual response time |
|---|---|---|
| Technical consultation (planning, design, construction, maintenance) | Planning Department | Within 3 working days |
| Publications and document requests | Planning Department | Within 3 working days |
| Tenders and contracts | Administration Department | Within 2 working days |
| Careers and internships | Administration Department | Within 5 working days |
| Media, speaking and site visits | Planning Department | About 1 week |
This table scrolls horizontally on narrow screens. Times are counted in working days and exclude weekends and public holidays.
Replies are provided as JAWRIC's professional view. They do not commit the organisation to carrying out a particular project, and they do not replace the design decisions that remain with the road administrator.
Frequently asked questions
The questions below are those most often asked at our enquiry desk. If your question is not covered, please write to us and we will answer it directly.
Is technical consultation really free?
Yes. Consultation and the initial response are provided at no charge, and support to municipalities is in principle free of charge as well. Where a contract is needed, for example for a design or survey commission, we provide an estimate and the terms in advance.
Can I write to you in English?
Yes. Enquiries in English are welcome by email, and we will reply in English. Some technical documents are published only in Japanese; where that is the case, we can summarise the relevant content for you on request.
How long does a reply take?
We normally send a first reply within three working days. Where a site visit or consultation with other organisations is required, the answer may take one to two weeks. If your enquiry is urgent, please say so in your message.
Can you send printed publications overseas?
Printed copies of our publications can be posted within Japan as a rule. For destinations outside Japan, please contact us first so that we can discuss what is possible and whether a digital copy would serve you better. Many reports are available through our publications page, which is published in Japanese.
Can I request a speaker or arrange a site visit?
Requests for lectures, training sessions and site visits are handled by our public relations desk. We are glad to consider them where the date and the subject can be agreed. Please include the intended audience, the theme and your preferred timing in your enquiry.
What information should I include in my enquiry?
It helps to include your organisation, the road or district concerned, the aspect you are asking about and any deadlines you are working to. For inspection or repair questions, the date of the most recent inspection and the observed condition are particularly useful.
